FTP Clients
From Wzdftpd
This page was created after a long thread 'Best FTP Client' was posted on the forum, so I decided to recap the results here. These are the FTP clients that we supports, we just find cool, or people use in majority. We have separated them, so you can easily find free clients (which are often as powerful as closed-source / non-free ones. Of course, every comment is subjective, you have to make your own opinion ;)

Linux / BSD / GNU / Sometimes others
- lftp: one of the best command line client: IPv6, UTF-8, SSL, FXP, certificates, scripts, parallel mode, jobs control, and much more. Our preferred client !
- ncftp: another great command line client.
- kftpgrabber: a graphical FTP client for KDE, supporting many security features: TLS, One time passwords, client certificates, secure FXP, distributed FTP, encrypted bookmarks.
- PftpMew: One of the best console clients when you want site to site transfers (FXP). Also supports SSL and secure FXP, secure bookmarks.
- Kasablanca: free ftp client for KDE, looks promising (a bit unstable for the moment ;)
- kbear: graphical ftp client for KDE, many cool features when used in KDE (kioslaves support, preview, etc).
- gFTP: free ftp client written in GTK, widely available for *NIX. Many features, however it really sucks for SITE commands.
- lukemftp: the enhanced ftp client from BSD. Not even a homepage, but cool anyway ;)
- Secure FTP: free ftp client in java, working on linux/windows/unix. Latest beta has support for SSL connections and data encryption.

Windows
- SmartFTP: Perhaps not the best windows client, but it's free (for non-commercial use). Supports SSL connections, IPv6, UTF-8, transfer queues etc. Not really good to defined custom site commands, though.
- CoreFTP: Secure FTP client software that includes SFTP (SSH), SSL, TLS, IDN, browser integration, site to site transfers, and many features. Free for personal use, commercial use free under some restrictions.
- FileZilla: Intuitive and free client for windows. Has some support for linux on the latest CVS versions.
- DataFreeway: SSH (SSH1,SSH2,SFTP), WebDAV, FTP Client for Windows (freeware with an evaluation period, free registration).
- Staff-FTP: An new and promising free Windows client. Supports FXP, TLS/SSL, scripting, pre-set SITE-commands for many FTPDs (not wzdftpd yet) and much more. Claims to be the first and only client to support FXP status.

Non-free clients / Shareware (you must pay for them !)
- FlashFXP: famous FXP client for windows.
- FTPRush: Powerful FTP/FXP Client for windows (previously known as UltraFXP), with many capabilities, and getting more and more power with scripts !
- IglooFTP Pro: graphical client written in GTK+, multiplatform. Problems: no SITE command support, limited to 512-bits encryption, interface really sucks.
