We Need Your Help!
There are many ways in which you can become involved in the wzdftpd project. Even if you are not a programmer, there are ways that you can benefit from wzdftpd and ways to help make wzdftpd more useful to yourself and others.
You can also find out what's going on in the community by joining the MailingList, where wzdftpd users and developers share information about the project and discuss freely and openly.
If you are interested in "live" communication with the wzdftpd team, contributors and users, you might be interested in the IrcChannel.
Creating a Trac account
To get involved with the development of wzdftpd, you will probably need a Trac account, which will allow you to add new tickets, submit code patches and edit and extend this wiki documentation.
You will need to create a login line for yourself, and send the result to pollux via private message on the wzdftpd IRC channel. You can also send it via email to pollux ~ wzdftpd.net for processing. Once your account is activated, you can login and start contributing.
User Feedback
To make wzdftpd better, we need user and developer feedback. Even if you're not a programmer, bug reports, ideas and suggestions are more than welcome.
For bug reports, feature request and feedback, we recommend filing a new ticket in the issue database.
Otherwise, you can make a new thread at the forums to discuss or report any topics of interest. You will be required to register a new account before you can start posting. Please note that creating a ticket on the trac system is the preferred method of reporting bugs or suggesting new features.
Writing Documentation
If you're not into programming, you can still help with editing the wiki and making new pages to assist other users with installing, configuring and using wzdftpd. Once you have a Trac account, you can try starting your contributions from the Documentation index page.
Code Contributions
Naturally, contributions in source code form are more than welcome.
See WzdftpdDev for resources about wzdftpd development, in particular WzdftpdDev/SubmittingPatches and WzdftpdDev/CodingStyle and check the SubversionRepository page for details concerning access to the code.
The following tickets may be good starting points:
- helpwanted tickets (tickets which are looking for contributors)
- review tickets (peer review requested)
- documentation tickets (things that need to be better documented)
Extensions
wzdftpd is extensible in a variety of ways. For example, you can add scripts in Perl or TCL.
You can also extend wzdftpd with custom plugins. See WzdftpdDev/PluginDevelopment? for more information.
